Project schedule : Creating usable project schedules
Familiar with the scenario of a project schedule developed in MS Project getting consigned to cold storage after some time and project being driven by ad-hoc schedules drafted in Word or Excel? Why does this happen? Is it because of a tight schedule? Not necessarily. It is largely because the schedule was not drafted with complete structure and rigor and hence it was not usable. Not all tight schedules are unusable. On the other hand, even liberal and lax schedules can also be unusable if not drafted properly. This presentation was made in Project Management Leadership conference and is available as a freely downloadable project management resource.
