Do you convey WIIFM while assigning roles to team members?

WIIFM stands for What’s In It For Me and answering WIIFM is a wide practice in mature organizations to ensure that employees own the responsibilities that they take up. While the fact that answering WIIFM increases ownership level of a team member appears to be common sense, practicing it can be quite tricky as it can backfire if not implemented cautiously. Therefore, analysing the tricky nature of WIIFM and illustrating simple ways of practicing it with real life examples is the purpose of this article.

Requirement change management by leveraging project constraints

Managing changes to the project plan, especially due to requirement changes requires strategies and mere procedures won't suffice. As each project context is unique, one needs to understand the customer's constraints, drivers and degrees of freedom and formulate project strategies along the lines of customer's degree of freedom so that it is easier for the customer to accommodate the changes to project plan. This article illustrates using three case studies, project dimension analysis, formulation of project strategies based on dimension analysis and guidelines for implementing the strategies formulated.
